Raman Raghav 2.0
This film is not a love story, there are no Raj and Simran, there are no mustard fields, this is as dark as it gets. Shot in the quintessential Tarantino style, the film is divided in various chapters and each chapter is darker than the other. Gruesome scenes like a sister offering her body for sex to her brother so that the brother will spare the nephew, make you want to ask if there really is a difference in humans and animals.
The protagonist is much more than a modern day Kans in this movie, he is much more than Ravana, He is Ramanna. Played brilliantly by Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the character of Raman shows no signs of remorse even when it comes to murdering a child. But Raman is incomplete without his soulmate and that soulmate is Raghav, played by Vicky Kaushal.
Raghav is trying to drown his sorrows in drugs, women and other such stuff but he is also incomplete till he meets his mirror image, Raman. One character is on the right side of power and the other on the wrong side of power and both of them are on the wrong side of law, both are corrupt, deranged and dangerous. The start of the last chapter is simply brilliant and shows what a master Anurag Kashyap is, so much so that it almost feels like this movie has been made by a psychopath.
Every human being is to some extent funny, mad, angry, dangerous, clever, delusional, but a person who is a mixture of all these is what Raman Raghav is all about.
A must watch!
